ENGLISH FORTNIGHT

As an extension of the workshop on ‘Teaching of English’, it was decided that all the ETE II Year trainees should be given opportunity to speak in English Language in order to enable them to become proficient in communicating in this language. For this, the fortnight 14-25 July, 2014 was celebrated as ‘English Fortnight’ in DIET where all the trainees would be speaking throughout the day with faculty and fellow trainees in English language only. Special highlight of this week was the Morning assembly in which all the activities like Newspaper reading, article reading, student’s reflections on the read article etc. were done in English language. Daily a new theme on which trainees had to reflect was taken up. These were:-
  1. Article reading from Newspaper or any other source
  2.  Value based stories
  3. Quotes by famous persons
  4. Extempore
  5. Public Speaking on social issues

It was very encouraging to see trainees making efforts to speak in English language in presence of all the faculty members and trainees of DIET. With each passing day of the fortnight, the trainees were observed to be speaking more confidently, fluently, expressing themselves comfortably and with great motivation to come up on stage.
